Fragrance-Free Skincare
Five products with no parfum and no essential oils in the ingredient list: two moisturisers, a make-up remover and two exfoliating acids. Most of our range is scented, so this is the short list for skin that reacts to fragrance — or for anyone who prefers skincare that smells of very little. 5 products.
Fragrance-Free Skincare: a short guide
What does fragrance free mean here?
No parfum, which is the label word for added fragrance, and no essential oils. It does not mean odourless: ingredients have a smell of their own. The Nourishing Rich Cream contains cocoa butter and vanilla bean extract, and the Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner contains phenethyl alcohol, which has a faint rose-like scent. If you react to one specific ingredient, check the full INCI list on the product page.
Which fragrance-free moisturiser should I choose?
For every day, the Sensitive Skin Moisturiser, Fragrance Free: a light cream with aloe leaf juice, glycerin, jojoba oil, sodium PCA and hyaluronic acid. For dry or mature skin, the Nourishing Rich Cream, Fragrance Free, with sunflower oil, cocoa butter, argan oil and shea butter. To take off make-up first, the BiPhasic Make-up Remover, Fragrance Free.
Are the acids suitable for sensitive skin?
Fragrance free is not the same as gentle. The AHA Peeling Concentrate is 10% lactic acid and the toner is 5% glycolic acid: both can sting, and both make skin more sensitive to the sun. If your skin is reactive, start with a moisturiser, patch-test anything new, and add an acid later, one or two evenings a week.
Is the rest of the range fragranced?
Yes, nearly all of it. The Purifying Toner lists no parfum either, but it contains lavender flower water and benzyl alcohol, so we have left it off this page. Every other product lists parfum, with its fragrance allergens named in the INCI list. We would rather say so here than have you find out from the label.
